California & Nevada Youth Involvement Network Scholarship

The California & Nevada Youth Involvement Board will award three $500 scholarships to California & Nevada Youth Involvement Network credit union members. Scholarship award will be based on an essay, listed below, and a resume of community service and/or extracurricular activities: What can you or your credit union do to encourage today's youth to join and take advantage of credit union products and services?

Requirments:

• Essay must be typed, double spaced and not exceed two pages
• Resume of extracurricular activities and/or community service not to exceed one page typed
• Student must be equal to, or less than, the age of twenty five years, with a minimum status of a high school senior
• Scholarship to be utilized in conjunction with continuing education at any accredited college, university or trade school
• Student must be a member of their participating credit union
• Student must be in good standing with their credit union
• Student must be in good standing with their high school, college, university or trade school

Submission of Essay:

• Participants will submit essay to Jenny Casselman by May 23, 2008.
• Participating credit unions must submit a cover sheet with each scholarship application.

Selection of Winner:

The California & Nevada Youth Involvement Board will score essays and resumes using the criterion listed below. Each category will be equally weighted.

• Clarity of expression
• Composition
• Content
• Creativity
• Involvement in community service or extracurricular activities

Announcement of Winner:

The winners' credit union(s) will be notified by mail, email and/or telephone, and announced in the CNYIN newsletter and on the CNYIN website.
